Tea growing village of Hsipaw
Discover Myanmar's timeless treasures by trekking to the tea growing villages of Hsibaw perched in the mountains of Shan Plateau. Located 86 Km away from Hsibaw, the tea growing village of Namhsan, even described as the Switzerland of Myanmar perched high in the hills of Shan Plateau. Visit Palaung tribe villages who earn their living by picking tea leaves and enjoy breathtaking view of mountains surrounding the area.Day 1 Yangon
Arrive in Yangon where you will be welcomed by your local tour guide and transferred to your hotel to drop off you luggage. If you arrived by mid day flight, we may proceed for lunch. After lunch, a walk through “downtown” Yangon, a diverse mix of faded colonial architecture from the British times, and high-rises built by more recent investors; Sule Pagoda, built in the early 3rd century is a landmark in the city centre.
Late afternoon visit the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda of Rudyard Kipling fame and one of Myanmar’s most sacred places. The massive bell shaped stupa is plated with gold and the tip of the stupa is set with diamonds and rubies, sapphires and topaz – a stunning sight as the sun sets and a most fitting place to begin our trip in this “Golden Land”. Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 2 Yangon - Mandalay ( by flight)
After breakfast at hotel, transfer to airport for flight to Mandalay. When you arrive at Mandalay airport, drive to ancient capital of Amarapura, the city of Immortality for a visit to Bagaya Monastery with a famous collection of Buddha images; weaving industries, two-century old U-Bein teak bridge on the Taungtaman Lake and observe the lunch process of thousand of monks who take their last meal of the day at 10:00 am in total silence. Proceed to Mandalay and check in at the hotel.
After refreshment, you will take a sightseeing tour of Mandalay which includes Mahanumi, a life like Buddha image. Mandalay is the last capital of Myanmar and that make her to be the best place to see all the traditional arts and crafts. Start visiting gold leaf making work-place and see how the gold leaf is being made by hand in a traditional way. Continue visit the Old Palace grounds; Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world's largest book for its 729 marble slabs inscribed with the Buddha's Doctrine; Golden Palace Monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings and enjoy the panoramic view of the city from Mandalay Hill. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 Mandalay
After breakfast, you will be transferred for Jetty for a private boat across the river Ayeywarwaddy to visit Mingun. The dedications of King Bodawpaya such as the unfinished Pathodawgyi Pagoda a brick counterpart of pyramid in Egypt and the Mingun Bell, the second largest bell in the world are the most prominent religious heritages. Then visiting the Myatheintan Pagoda, the best representation of the Universe, will refresh your tiredness and fatigue. Return to Mandalay. After lunch, drive to Ava, 30-minute to the south of Mandalay, was known in the west as the Kingdom of Ava. Stop by a tributary and cross it with a ferry. Travel by pony-cart around Ava to Nanmyint leaning tower which gives a birds' eye view of the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River; Bagaya wooden monastery; Aungmyaybonza Monastery made of brick and stucco. Though the Royal Palace has gone, the Pagodas, Temples and Monasteries still remain. Return drive to Mandalsy and see the silversmith work place on our way back to hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Mandalay.
Day 4 Mandalay – Hsibaw by car
After breakfast at hotel, drive to Hsibaw, a small town located on the northern Shan State traditionally ruled by the Sawbwa (chief/head man of a village/town) passing through the world famous "Gokteik Gorge" where the 100 yrs over viaduct rail line is still in use. Upon arrival in Hsibaw, check-in to your guest house. Hsibaw came into prominence for it’s the old Shan Palace know as Hsibaw Haw, an architectural design reminiscent of the British country home. Overnight at Hsibaw.
Day 5 Hsibaw – Namhsam by jeep
After breakfast, head out for Hamhsam ( 80km apprxo: 5 hrs drive ), one of the biggest villages perched high in the hills of Shan Plateau. The road to Namhsan wound its way up the side of huge mountains with a spectacular view over the vast valley and mountains. Overnight at simple guest house in Namhsam.
Day 6 Trekking
You will be surprised by the row of dark teak houses strung out along a hilly ridge in Namhsam. After breakfast, trek to Palaung villages to see the tea plantations (6 to 7 hrs trek). Enjoy the hospitality and the simplicity nature of the Palaung People. See how they live, what they eat and their distinct tradition. Overnight at the village.
Day 7 Trekking
After simple breakfast, we will continue our trek to Pan Kwan Palaung village get to know about the Palaung and Danu with their culture and way of living. Trek through the villages, fields and forest to Pan Kwan village (6 or 7 hr trek). Overnight at the village.
Day 8 Trekking back to Hsibaw
After simple breakfast, trek through the villages and back to Hsibaw ( 4 hrs trek). After the long trek, our guest house tonight at Hsibaw seems extravagant for a fresh shower. Overnight at Hsibaw.
Day 9 Hsibaw – Pyinoolwin by car
After breakfast, drive to Pyin Oo Lwin, our night’s destination, was a British Hill Station during the colonial era and maintains a large dose of charm. A free evening walking around National Kandawgyi Garden and overnight at the hotel in Pyinoolwin.
Day 10 Pyinoolwin – Mandalay by car
After breakfast, too add your colonial experience, we will take horse drawn stagecoach to "Candacraig Hotel", an English country home of British colonial days and downtown Pyinoolwin. Mid morning, drive back to Mandalay. Arrive Mandalay and day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Mandalay.
Day 11 Mandalay – Yangon by flight
After breakfast, transfer to airport for our flight back to Yangon. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.
In the afternoon, we plan to visit by car to Karaweik, a royal barge for fantastic photo shot along the “pilgrims” causeway across the Royal Lake with stunning views of Schwedagon Pagoda and visit the Bogyoke Aung San Market (Scott Market) for souvenir shopping. Overnight at the hotel in Yangon.
Day 12 Yangon departure.
After breakfast at hotel, you will be transferred to Yangon International airport for your return international departure flight.Brief Itinerary (12 Day)
